Hometown’s Big, Game-Changing News

Shaun Bhajan of Hometown Bicycles shakes hands with Matt Fitzhorn of Vincere CyclesHometownies, you know we make it our mission to keep Hometown Bicycles new and exciting. We’ve come to you in the past with epic news – like introducing Jamis to our shop, launching a cycling Team, and moving into this big, beautiful, bicycle adventure center of ours – and, without fail, it’s translated into something fresh, unexpected, amazing… something that makes you proud to be a Hometownie. Well, we’re at it again…
…………………………………………….
Today’s news is BIG – in fact, GAME-CHANGING – and I guarantee that it will make you prouder than ever to call Hometown Bicycles “home.”

Vincere Cycles of Milford, Michigan logo on cycling jerseySome of you may recognize the fella above shaking Shaun’s hand: Matt Fitzhorn, owner of Vincere Cycles in Milford, has been on our radar for some time now. The quality of Vincere’s service work is exceptional and innovative – we’ve seen it and have been impressed by it. Matt’s personality is warm, his integrity outstanding, and his goals admirable. Over the years, we’ve built up a relationship of mutual respect – easy enough to do, since our values so powerfully align.

On the heels of some very intriguing discussions, Vincere and Hometown have formally combined forces to create something BIG! Hometown Bicycles of Brighton, Michigan logoThis alliance will have a long-standing, positive impact on YOUR cycling experience, and the continuing growth of your bicycle adventure center.

Stay tuned over the next couple weeks for the oh-my-gosh details about this alliance. In the meantime, know that you have a LOT to look forward to…

GOOD LUCK, MEGHAN AND COLIN!
Hometown Bicycles crew members, Meghan Horal and Colin Wood

We were sad, yet proud to send off two more of our wonderful summer crew to the world of academia.

Meghan Horal, cashier extraordinaire, added a tremendous amount of value in her brief time here, and was also known for the fantastic bike jokes you read weekly on our entryway board. We wish her all the success in the world at college, and look forward to seeing her again when the weather warms!

Colin Wood has set himself some aggressive personal goals for his final year in high school, but may still make appearances throughout the winter. We’re proud of what he’s accomplishing, including how he’s killing it on the high school mountain bike team. Go, Colin!

You’ll see some new faces at Hometown over the coming weeks. Be sure to stop by and say hello to your new crew-in-training! (Positions still open!)

PINCKNEY STUDENTS PUT SHAUN THROUGH HIS PACES

Shaun Bhajan of Hometown Bicycles teaching the mechanics of bicycles to Pinckney's Navigator Elementary students

Pinckney’s Navigator Elementary teacher, Angela Kanerva, approached us with a fantastically unique request. She asked us to show her students how bicycles consist of a mechanical system in which parts work together to achieve a functional goal. Wow, right?

So, Shaun and our Events Coordinator, Jennifer, addressed over 100 extremely curious students on the science and engineering of bicycles. It was a HUGE hit – for us as much as them! We came away inspired and hopeful about the future of cycling.

What a cool program… can’t wait to do it again! We wish we’d had you as a teacher, Angela!!
