Hometown Bike & BBQ’s Big Success

Hometown Bicycles 1st Annual Bike & BBQ for the ADA
HOMETOWN BIKE & BBQ’S BIG SUCCESS

A Team fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association

What an event! Over $1500 was raised for the American Diabetes Association at Hometown’s 1st Annual Bike & BBQ last weekend!! Here’s our email “salute” to a philanthropic cycling community, incredible food, bike families (SO cool) and all the rock stars who were a part of it…

Food genius, Scott, kept our enthusiasm fired up with awesome chef-ery (above left). Julia and Joe (above middle) put together a phenomenal silent auction. Andy, who came with Hometown’s Tour de Cure Team Captain and edibles engineer, Jacki, was a hit with the kids (above right)!

Families came out in full force! Hometownie Kenny’s growing family is above left, with the Kellogg family (above center), and John’s family (above right) was there representing Team Run John Run.

The Hamburg Fitness Center Triathlon Club brought their own brand of awesomeness to our event (above left). We were thrilled to have a celeb appearance from Chris White, who was nominated as Road Bike Action Magazine’s Rider of the Year (above center). Above right, tri-guy Barry (left) chatted with Mike Hartwell (right), who stopped in right after coordinating the most successful Eric Hartwell Foundation Snowman Run to date!

QBP Rep Jeff and wife Ann (above left) are superstar supporters of Hometown. Great people, who also launched Michigan Youth Cycling. The party really got started when Tom and Sarah showed up (above center)! And Jullian stopped in on his way back from rocking the trails (above right).

Julie, a fellow Bike & BBQ organizer, manned the cash drawer (above left). Hometownie David snuck in a silent auction bid before lunch (above center). And here we see Kenny with the future generation of Hometown Cycling (above right).

“Stingray Bob” and Karen are famous for their collection of original Schwinn Stingray bikes (above left). Al stopped in for a mid-ride bite (above center). Chris and Diana classed up the join with their matching cyclewear (above right). Go Critterbud!

Above left is the Hometown Cycling team, who made this whole event happen! And above right is our hero, Michigan State Trooper Officer Brent, who tracked down missing park attendents to finally unlock the restrooms before there was an “incident”.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for supporting this event!! At Hometown, community involvement ranks right up there with eating and breathing, but we definitely can’t do it without you! So three cheers for you, and stay tuned for next year’s Bike & BBQ!
